No angel appeared to me to call me to the priesthood, but it has been one of the most fulfilling adventures of my life. My dream is not to save the world. I am seeking only to live my life while serving God and His people in a way that will enable me say to Christ when I see Him one day: “I have fought the good fight; I have finished the race; I have kept the faith.” (2 Timothy 4:7).

Corpus Christi

Gen 14:18-20; 1 Cor 11:23-26; Luke 9:11b-17

Today we celebrate the Solemnity of Corpus Christi, the Solemnity of the Most Holy Body and Blood of Christ. Let us just pause for a while and ask ourselves:

What do you think  is the purpose of the gift of the Eucharist given to us by Christ?

And why do you, you personally, come here to celebrate the Eucharist?

After you think about it turn to the person next to you and share with them your answers, please. Please, do not be too longwinded so the other person can share his or her answers with you.

Let me than repeat to you the questions.....

I believe that the purpose of the Eucharist is not only to transform bread and wine into the body and blood of Jesus, but also as we receive them to be transformed into his mystical body and blood.
We are to become a community of people who live the paschal mystery, the mystery of Jesus’ suffering, dying and resurrection to new life.

In order to do that we need to imitate Jesus’ self-giving by loving all others as Jesus loves them. We are to strive to show our love by emptying ourselves and dying to ourselves and so others can be fulfilled and live.

Perhaps what we celebrate here is complete for us individually only when we are transformed, or at least in the midst of the process of transformation.

Dear Father Remi,

I appreciate your comment that it is a process. I come regularly because I want to be transformed and I know that it would take time and energy.
